Plant security and surveillance infrastructure
Supply, installation and maintenance of IP and PTZ camera systems, access control, surveillance network infrastructure and structured cabling on operating power-station sites — delivered for Eskom since 2021.
Surveillance on an industrial site is plant infrastructure: cameras on fuel oil plant and perimeters, access control at gatehouses and turnstiles, and the network and cabling that carry it all to a control room. Umbusso Engineers supplies, installs and maintains this infrastructure on operating power-station sites, working under the same inductions, permits and safety file as our mechanical work.
Between January 2021 and April 2022 Eskom issued Umbusso seven purchase orders at an Eskom power station, each closed with a completion certificate: supply and installation of one PTZ camera, sixteen fixed IP cameras across the east and west fuel oil plant and four Helix rotor flow meters; CCTV minor maintenance; surveillance network infrastructure; CAT6 structured cabling re-routing; and remote surveillance monitoring of indoor and outdoor intrusion systems. In 2023 we carried out access-control and surveillance diagnostics and maintenance at the guard house and administration turnstile, footage retrieval, and a site security assessment report.
What we do
- IP, PTZ and fixed camera systems: supply, installation, commissioning and maintenance.
- Access control — turnstiles, gatehouse systems, readers and controllers — installation, diagnostics and repair.
- Surveillance network infrastructure and CAT6 structured cabling, including re-routing on live sites.
- Remote monitoring of indoor and outdoor intrusion systems.
- Footage retrieval, system diagnostics and security assessment reports.
- Flow-meter and instrument installation associated with the surveillance scope.
Standards, quality and documentation
Installations are commissioned and handed over against the purchase order with an Eskom completion certificate, and maintenance work is reported per visit. Work on operating plant runs under permit-to-work and our ISO 45001-certified safety management system. Electrical contracting and certificates of compliance are outside this service; where they are required we work with the client’s appointed electrical contractor.

Do you offer this beyond power stations?
The service was built on power-station sites, but the same camera, access-control, cabling and monitoring scope applies to mines, plants and industrial premises.
Can you assess an existing system before we spend on it?
Yes. In 2023 we carried out diagnostics on an Eskom station’s access-control and surveillance systems and issued a security assessment report; the same assessment is available as a standalone scope.
