The people accountable for the work
A founding director who holds the Main Contractor appointments, an operations manager who is also the welding coordinator, and a welding, quality and safety team organised for ISO 3834-2 and ISO 45001. Names are published with the consent of the individuals concerned.
Phathisizwe Nkululeko Msezane
Founding Director and Managing Director of Umbusso Engineers since 2015. Signatory to the company’s B-BBEE affidavit and tender submissions, and the appointed Main Contractor representative on Eskom sites, including the slurry-plant rubber-lining contract of 2025.
Ndamulelo Lukoto
Operations Manager. Welding foreman and welding coordinator under the ISO 3834-2 certification schedule, responsible for the day-to-day running of site scopes, workshop orders and the quality plans they run under.
How the team is organised
Welding coordination
A welding coordinator with specific technical knowledge, supported by a second coordinator and two welding foremen, per the ISO 3834-2 certificate schedule. International Welding Engineer / Technologist support is available by subcontract when a scope requires it.
Quality assurance and control
Two named QA/QC personnel who issue and sign the quality control plans, witness hold points with the client, and compile the data book. The quality controller holds independent authority to stop work.
Safety
A safety officer with independent stop-work authority, responsible for the safety file, appointments, risk assessments and daily controls under ISO 45001 and the Construction Regulations.
Contract management
One accountable contract manager per contract, from award to final documentation, handling programme, reporting, variations and close-out.
Site supervision
Site supervisors and shift supervisors for resources contracts, managing rosters, medicals, inductions and plant access.
Head office
Finance, administration and tender office in Trichardt, supporting the workshops in Evander and Benoni South.
